Hourly Store Associates

Benefit eligibility is based on position.

Health Insurance Program

What do you receive?
The associate CIGNA/Starbridge health insurance program is a voluntary program with the associate paying the full premium cost. The associate must enroll within the first 30 days of employment to be eligible for the program. There are two distinct plans with different benefit levels and premium costs.

Associates may select coverage for associate only, associate plus one family member, or they may enroll in family coverage in either plan.

Premium payments are made through payroll deduction.

Both plans are defined benefit plans with limitations on the amounts paid. Associates should examine the plan descriptions and enrollment materials to determine if these plans offer the coverage they need.

Both plans include a vision discount program, prescription drug card, and coverage for doctor’s office visits.

When are you eligible?
Upon completion of thirty days of employment; Group Managers or associates who work 20 or more hours per week are eligible for the program.

Retirement Plan

What do you receive?
401(k):
The company offers a 401(k) retirement plan for all ALCO associates. Associate’s contributions are automatically 100% vested. Please note that federal tax law limitations may exist on certain associate contributions. Please refer to the Summary Plan Description (SPD) for additional information.

When are you eligible?
Associates may begin deferring immediately upon hire.

Disability/Sick Pay

What do you get?
Regular associates who average 20 hours or more per week are eligible to earn disability/sick pay. Associates will not be allowed to accumulate unused sick hours from year to year.

When are you eligible?
Upon completion of one full year of uninterrupted service.

Associate Discount

What do you receive?
Associates, their legal spouses, children and/or parents living in the same household are eligible for an associate store discount on purchases at any ALCO Discount Store.

Discounts are allowed on regular, sale, or clearance merchandise but may be limited or not applicable to certain “special event” and/or coupon promotions as determined by the Store Support Center. Discounts are not allowed on merchandise where state or local laws determine a minimum mark-up (i.e. cigarettes); on alcohol; on fuel or fuel center merchandise; on pharmacy merchandise; or on the purchase of gift cards, prepaid cards or in conjunction with discount programs such as Senior Citizens Discount Day. Discounts are not available on purchases from any leased departments located in a store.

Upon employment.

Note:
The associate must work their full scheduled day before and after the Holiday and/ or the Holiday if scheduled to receive the Holiday pay benefit.

Associates employed at least 90 but less than 365 continuous days who work on one of the above holidays are paid at a time and one half rate but are not eligible for Holiday Pay.
